Stethi kai oiktiron. Epigrafi funerarie ateniesi arcaiche

This work means to analyse from different points of view the Archaic Gravestones found in the area of the asty of Athens. In the first chapter the thesis deals with the monument as a physical object: its position, its shape and the meaning of the sculpture. In the second chapter the focus is on the people mentioned by the epitaph: the dead, the person who ordered the monument and the sculptor. In particular, I was interested in analysing the relationships between differnt members of the oikos, as they are presented in the iscription. The third chapter deals with the text of the epigram and its connections with ¿offical¿ literature: I have noticed that this relationship is very deep and of primary importance in the logic that rules the realization of the monument.

Questo lavoro intende analizzare da differenti punti di vista le epigrafi funerarie arcaiche rinvenute nell'area dell'asty di Atene. Nel primo capitolo la tesi affronta il monumento come oggetto fisico: la sua posizione, la sua forma e il significato della scultura. Nel secondo capitolo l'attenzione si concentra sulle persone menzionate dall'epitaffio: il morto, il committente e lo scultore. In particolare, ero interessato ad analizzare le relazioni tra i diversi membri dell'oikos come sono presentate nell'iscrizione. Il terzo capitolo affronta il testo dell'epigramma e le sue connessioni con la letteratura ¿ufficiale¿: ho notato che questa relazione è molto profonda e di primaria importanza nella logica che governa la realizzazione del monumento.
