The thesis explores the phenomenon of human trafficking for sexual exploitation in Argentina, analyzing its historical evolution, sociocultural dynamics, existing legislation, and social responses. The study begins with an analysis of the historical origins of trafficking, showing how this phenomenon has been rooted in the Argentine context since the 19th century, influenced by mass immigration and economic inequalities. The Argentine legal framework is then thoroughly examined, highlighting the main laws enacted over the years to combat trafficking, with a particular focus on their effectiveness and current challenges. Further attention is given to the operational aspects of trafficking, from the main routes to the methods of victim recruitment and the different actors involved in the exploitation process. Finally, the thesis examines the important role of associations in combating trafficking, through the case study of the Fundación María de los Ángeles, an Argentine organization dedicated to prevention and victim support. This research also aims to provide an integrated view of the gender dynamics and inequalities that fuel the trafficking of women in Argentina and to encourage reflection on how to effectively address this serious violation of human rights.
