The following text aims to go over the main notions of Georges Bataille's philosophical production. The purpose is to clarify, in his thought, the process that starts from his anthropological conception and will outline his personal ontological-metaphysical structure. In an effort to make the study as organic as possible, we will begin with an introduction that sets out, giving a glimpse of the author's philosophical location and his objects of inquiry, his instrumental and methodological notions. These will flow into his eccentric notions revolving around non-savoir. In order to understand his conception of man uprooted from that being which is the realm of nature's continuity, Bataille's philosophical background will initially be exposed in relation to his two main interlocutors Hegel and Nietzsche. Thereafter, a thread will be traversed that plumbs the most materialist notions down to the most theoretical, revealing a sui generis systematicity of knowledge that is the result of an interweaving of themes. From the general economy of the cosmos that eternally shapes the social bonds between men and determines their essence to its philosophical culmination exhibited in the essays of the Somme Athèologique.
