Il mondo ai tempi di Idrisi

History, intricate and multifaceted, is a journey through human events, an analysis of the social, political and economic changes that have shaped the world over time. From this perspective, this thesis aims to explore a crucial period, a historical canvas in which events intertwine like threads of an ancient tapestry, leaving an indelible imprint on the fabric of the past. One of these imprints is undoubtedly represented by Idrisi's work entitled Nuzhat al-Mushtaq fi Ikhtiraq al-Afaq (in Italian "The delight of those who wish to go beyond the borders of the world"), whose analysis is the basis of this research. This work will therefore be divided into three sections:  Introduction to the character of Idrisi and the historical period in which he lived. With particular attention to the religious currents and political trends in that historical moment;  Analysis of the Nuzhat al-Mushtaq fi Ikhtiraq al-Afaq” and its climates, illustrating the content of the work in an abbreviated manner;  Translation of a section of the book with related commentary regarding the translation methodology used and the difficulties encountered.

La Storia, intricata e sfaccettata, è un viaggio attraverso le vicende umane, un’analisi dei cambiamenti sociali, politici ed economici che hanno modellato il mondo nel corso del tempo. In questa prospettiva, la presente tesi si propone di esplorare un periodo cruciale, una tela storica in cui gli eventi si intrecciano come fili di un arazzo antico, lasciando un’impronta indelebile nella trama del passato. Una di queste impronte è rappresentata senz’altro dall’opera di Idrisi intitolata Nuzhat al-Mushtaq fi Ikhtiraq al-Afaq (in italiano “La delizia di chi desidera andare oltre i confini del mondo” ), la cui analisi è alla base di questa ricerca. Questo lavoro si suddividerà quindi in tre sezioni:  Introduzione al personaggio di Idrisi e al periodo storico in cui ha vissuto. Con particolare attenzione alle correnti religiose e gli andamenti politici in quel momento storico;  Analisi del Nuzhat al-Mushtaq fi Ikhtiraq al-Afaq” e dei suoi climi, illustrando in maniera abbreviata il contenuto dell’opera;  Traduzione di un tratto del libro con relativo commento riguardo alla metodologia traduttiva utilizzata e le difficoltà riscontrate.
