Classificazione dei giullari e analisi degli echi letterari all'interno della scena del matrimonio del Roman de Flamenca.

The Roman de Flamenca is considered a masterpiece of 13th century Occitan literature. The marriage scene between Flamenca and Archimbaud holds an important value and, with its long list of jesters, represents an interesting compendium of the forms of entertainment and literary works that circulated in medieval French courts. The paper opens with an extensive introduction to the Roman de Flamenca that aims at contextualizing the work within the genre and exposing the many critical studies that have developed around it. The central part of the study is a classification of the numerous categories of jesters present in the text with a description of the forms of entertainment mentioned and a thorough analysis of the musical instruments and references to medieval French literature. The latter range from the novels of Chrétien de Troyes to biblical stories, from chansons de geste to novels of classical subjects, with numerous citations to furthermore or lesser-known works. The study was conducted by means of an analysis of the individual passages of the text, preceded by an introduction of the individual excerpts that allows them to be contextualized within the plot of the novel. Each passage is completed, in the footnotes, by the translation and a further examination of the key words related to the world of jester entertainment. ​

Il Roman de Flamenca è considerato un capolavoro della letteratura occitana del XIII secolo. Di particolare pregio è la scena del matrimonio tra Flamenca e Archimbaud che, con il suo lungo elenco di giullari, rappresenta un vero e proprio compendio delle forme di intrattenimento e delle opere letterarie che circolavano nelle corti francesi medievali. L’elaborato si apre con un’estesa introduzione al Roman de Flamenca che mira alla contestualizzazione dell’opera all’interno del genere e all’esposizione dei numerosi studi critici che si sono sviluppati intorno ad essa. La parte centrale dello studio è rappresentata dalla classificazione delle numerose categorie di giullari presenti nel testo con una descrizione delle forme di intrattenimento citate e una accurata analisi degli strumenti musicali e dei riferimenti alla letteratura francese medievale. Questi ultimi spaziano dai romanzi di Chrétien de Troyes alle storie bibliche, dalle chanson de geste ai romanzi di materia classica, con numerose citazioni ad ulteriori opere più o meno conosciute. Lo studio è stato portato avanti tramite un’analisi dei singoli passaggi del testo, preceduta da una introduzione dei singoli estratti che permette di contestualizzarli all’interno della trama del romanzo. Ogni passaggio è completato, in nota, dalla traduzione e da un ulteriore esame delle parole chiave legate al mondo dell’intrattenimento giullaresco. ​
