Andare oltre gli stereotipi: il ruolo del genere nella scelta dei giocattoli

The aim of the present dissertation is to analyse gender differences in children's choice of toys and play activities. The dissertation is divided into three chapters. The first chapter explains the concept of gender, which is often misused as a synonym for sex, and investigates how it is constructed. The second chapter focuses on the theme of play as a fundamental moment in a child's life and the most significant theories are presented. The third and final chapter sets out to analyse the differences that exist in the play of boys and girls starting by explaining the games and activities used by the two sexes, the influences in the choice of games and toys, and ending with the presentation of some research that has tried to understand the real differences between the two sexes in play activities.

Lo scopo della seguente dissertazione è quello di analizzare le differenze di genere nella scelta dei giocattoli e nelle attività ludiche dei bambini. La dissertazione si articola in tre capitoli. Nel primo capitolo viene illustrato il concetto di genere che spesso viene usato in maniera errata come sinonimo di sesso e viene indagato il modo in cui esso si costruisce. Il secondo capitolo è incentrato sul tema del gioco in quanto momento fondamentale nella vita del bambino e vengono presentate le teorie più significative. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo si propone di analizzare le differenze che vi sono nel gioco dei bambini e delle bambine partendo con lo spiegare i giochi e le attività utilizzate dai due sessi, le influenze nella scelta dei giochi e dei giocattoli fino alla presentazione di alcune ricerche che hanno cercato di comprendere le reali differenze tra i due sessi nell’attività ludica.
