The Basque Country is a Spanish autonomous region known for its rich history and distinctive culture. Its innovation ecosystem is fundamental because it stimulates economic growth, encourages competitiveness, and drives the region towards sustainable development, positioning it as a major player in the global arena. This dissertation dives into the Basque innovation system, focusing on how the Euskadi STIP Plan 2030 shapes the region's path to the 2030 Agenda. Beginning with a look at the Basque Country, the report offers an overview of the Basque Country’s historical roots, geographical context, demographic composition and economic foundations, thereby setting the stage to discuss major economic sectors, key industries, and how government strategies and innovation policies guide the region’s growth. Afterwards, the concept of an Innovation System is introduced, its historical trajectory and contextualized within a theoretical framework. Central to our investigations is the Basque Innovation System itself, its strengths, weaknesses, and important players, sharing insights from the InnoBasque centre, and comparing the Basque model performance with other countries in the European Union. Following a general overview of the Basque Country and its innovation ecosystem, this study aims to analyze the Euskadi 2030 STIP plan, an ambitious guide for innovation, walking through its goals, and showcasing how it links regional innovation efforts with the broader 2030 Agenda. From history to now and into the future, this dissertation is a roadmap that leads the Basque Country toward the big goals of the 2030 Agenda.

Abstract
From history to now and into the future, this dissertation is a roadmap that leads the Basque Country toward the big goals of the 2030 Agenda.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
