“Quando nasce un bambino nasce anche una madre” Conseguenze sulla relazione madre-bambino nelle situazioni di depressione post-partum.

The paper addresses the theme of postpartum depression and its consequences on the mother-child relationship. Specifically, it describes the psychological conditions underlying postpartum depression, attempting to understand its implications on infant development. A bibliographic search of sources was conducted by consulting various databases, such as PubMed, Psycinfo, as well as different websites, using keywords such as "postpartum depression," "mother- child relationship and postpartum depression," "postpartum depression and child attachment," and "risk factors of postpartum depression." Numerous studies, experiments, meta-analyses, and reviews were collected and compared. Additionally, a search was conducted in the most important developmental psychology and postpartum psychopathology manuals to deepen the topic of motherhood and its psychopathological aspects and the early mother-child relationships. The paper consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, the theme of motherhood was explored, particularly focusing on the psychological birth of the mother, experiences, emotions, and desires during pregnancy and postpartum. Subsequently, the depressive component was analyzed, including the main psychopathological manifestations of postpartum, referring to the most recent classifications and their prevalence. In the second chapter, the topic of mother-child relationship was discussed, along with the consequences of postpartum depression on the quality of interaction, infant's emotional and cognitive development, emotional regulation, and attachment bond construction. The third chapter examined the risk factors for postpartum depression, the importance of prevention and screening pathways, with a focus on the protective role of family, partner, and social support.

L'elaborato affronta la tematica della depressione post partum e le conseguenze sulla relazione madre-bambino. Nello specifico sono state descritte le condizioni psicologiche che sono alla base della depressione post partum cercando di comprendere quali possano essere le ricadute di tale manifestazione sullo sviluppo infantile.  La ricerca bibliografica delle fonti è stata condotta consultando diverse banche dati, quali PubMed, Psycinfo, oltre a distinte fonti sitografiche, utilizzando parole chiave quali “post partum depression”, “mother- child relationship and post partum depression”, “post partum depression and child attacchment” e "risk fator of post partum depression".  Sono stati raccolti e confrontati numerosi studi, sperimentali, metanalisi e review. Inoltre è stata condotta una ricerca sui più importanti manuali di psicologia dello sviluppo e psicopatologia del post partum per approfondire il tema della maternità e delle sue derive psicopatologiche e le prime relazioni madre-bambino. L' elaborato è composto da tre capitoli, nel primo è stato approfondito il tema della maternità ed in particolare la nascita psicologica della madre, i vissuti, le emozioni ed i desideri in gravidanza e nel post partum. Successivamente è stata analizzata la componente depressiva con le principali manifestazioni psicopatologiche del post partum facendo riferimento alle classificazioni più recenti e alla loro diffusione. Nel secondo capitolo è stato trattato il tema della relazione madre-bambino e le conseguenze della depressione post partum rispetto alla qualità dell'interazione, allo sviluppo affettivo e cognitivo infantile, alla regolazione affettiva ed infine alla modalità di costruzione del legame di attaccamento. Nel terzo capitolo sono stati esaminati quelli che sono i fattori di rischio per lo sviluppo della depressione post partum, l'importanza della prevenzione e dei percorsi di screening con un approfondimento del ruolo protettivo della famiglia, del partner e del supporto sociale.
