Cambiamenti climatici: impatto sulla viticoltura e strategie di adattamento

I have chosen to develop this theme for various reasons, one above all, the fact that it is very topical, even if for years there has been talk of climate change and the practices to be implemented to combat it. Since viticulture is an important part of the production of our country, we can only ask ourselves how we can implement strategies to safeguard our best known cultivars, the most suitable areas and the most appreciated products. Earth's climate is a complex system, subject to forcing variables over time. In addition to natural variability, a new factor has been added in the last one hundred and fifty years, linked to anthropic activities. It is undeniable that global warming affects and will affect agriculture in general and the life of all living beings, but how does it affect viticulture? This text will briefly illustrate the causes of ongoing climate change and how they affect viticulture. It will be deduced that the greatest consequences are already evident from now on the duration of the biological cycle of the vine, on the possible shift of the geographical area suitable for the cultivation of the vine and on the chemical composition of the grape. Finally, the practices to be adopted to mitigate the effects of climate change will be illustrated.

Ho scelto di sviluppare questo argomento per vari motivi, uno su tutti, il fatto che sia di grande attualità, anche se sono anni che si parla del cambiamento climatico e delle pratiche da attuare per contrastarlo. Essendo la viticoltura una parte importante della produzione del nostro Paese, non possiamo che chiederci come poter attuare delle strategie per salvaguardare le nostre cultivar più conosciute, le zone vocate e i prodotti maggiormente apprezzati. Il clima della Terra è un sistema complesso, soggetto a forzanti variabili nel tempo. Oltre alla variabilità naturale, negli ultimi centocinquant'anni circa si è aggiunto un nuovo fattore, legato alle attività antropiche. È innegabile che il surriscaldamento globale influisca e influirà sull'agricoltura in generale e sulla vita di tutti gli esseri viventi, ma in che modo agisce sulla viticoltura? In questo testo saranno illustrate in breve le cause dei cambiamenti climatici in atto e come influiscono sulla viticoltura. Si evincerà che le conseguenze maggiori si riscontrano già fin da ora sulla durata del ciclo biologico della vite, sul possibile spostamento dell'areale geografico idoneo alla coltivazione della vite e sulla composizione chimica dell'uva. Saranno illustrate, in fine, le pratiche da adottare per mitigare gli effetti dei cambiamenti climatici.
