PASSAGGIO OBBLIGATO. Uomini, donne e bambini dell'area MENA in transito sulle navi quarantena

The contents of this thesis aim to analyze situations observed by the undersigned on board the quarantine ships for the containment of the Covid-19 infection, intended for migrants arriving in Italy. The aim of this thesis is to produce a paper in which I experiment my attempt to build an ethnography, through some testimonies of people who have passed on ships, which I have collected and then transcribed in the form of field notes; starting from my personal experience on board. In particular, my analysis focuses on people from MENA countries. Starting from the stories collected during my stay on board the quarantine ships, I tried to deepen some topics such as: the theme of the family, which I came across thanks to my work as a Caseworker RFL; the issue of confinement, according to a health perspective external to the ships and according to the internal vision of the guests; finally, I decided to focus on the mobility of the female gender as a topic dear to me. Throughout the period in which there have been quarantine ships dedicated to the health surveillance of migrant people, a large literature has been produced by the media, politicians and public opinion; however, since the environment of the ships is almost hermetically closed, it is very difficult to convey thoughts and feelings, giving a voice to the people who have passed on board. The added value of my work could be that of giving a vision from a different perspective, more internal and close to the thought of the protagonists of the migratory experiences. ​

I contenuti di questa tesi hanno l'obiettivo di analizzare situazioni osservate dalla sottoscritta a bordo delle navi quarantena per il contenimento dell’infezione da Covid-19, destinate a persone migranti arrivate in Italia. L'obiettivo di questa tesi è quello di produrre un elaborato in cui sperimento il mio tentativo di costruire un’etnografia, tramite alcune testimonianze di persone che sono transitate sulle navi, che ho raccolto e poi trascritto sotto forma di note di campo; partendo dalla mia esperienza personale a bordo. In particolare, la mia analisi si focalizza sulle persone provenienti da paesi dell’area MENA. Partendo dai racconti raccolti durante la mia permanenza a bordo delle navi quarantena, ho cercato di approfondire alcuni temi quali: il tema della famiglia, in cui mi sono imbattuta grazie al lavoro come Caseworker RFL; il tema del confinamento, secondo una prospettiva sanitaria esterna alle navi e secondo la visione interna degli ospiti; infine, ho deciso di soffermarmi sulla mobilità di genere femminile in quanto tema a me caro. Per tutto il periodo in cui ci sono state navi quarantena dedicate alla sorveglianza sanitaria di persone migranti è stata prodotta da media, politici e opinione pubblica un’ampia letteratura; tuttavia essendo l’ambiente delle navi chiuso in maniera quasi ermetica, è molto difficile far trasparire pensieri e sentimenti, dando voce alle persone che sono transitate a bordo. Il valore aggiunto del mio elaborato potrebbe essere quello di dare una visione da una prospettiva diversa, più interna e vicina al pensiero dei protagonisti delle esperienze migratorie.
