"The thesis "Addressing Structural Macroeconomic Imbalances in Europe: Strategies for a Fairer and More Growth-Oriented Union" focuses on the issue of macroeconomic imbalances within the European Union. The research aims to analyze the monetary, financial, and European systems critically, avoiding value judgments but always maintaining a propositional and pro-European ideology. The objective is to analyze and comment on possible practical and effective solutions to address these imbalances and improve the functioning of the European Union. The research work consists of four chapters. The first chapter explores the issue of banking and fiscal union, examining divergences in capital markets and the principle of the single market. The phenomenon of capital flight is also analyzed in its historical context over the last decade. The second chapter focuses on the Target2 system, which is one of the fundamental elements of the European payment system. Although an advanced system, it has generated various controversies, and we will clarify and understand whether the system creates imbalances or whether there are other underlying factors. In the third chapter, we address the issue of rewriting the rules of the European economy. We examine the proposals of some economists, such as Joseph E. Stiglitz and Clemens Fuest, for the creation of a European fiscal union and the joint management of public debt. We also discuss the importance of a monetary policy that prioritizes employment and solutions for decentralizing responsibilities and ensuring financial stability. The fourth chapter aims to be at the forefront of European economic policies, analyzing and contextualizing the new maneuver proposed by the European Commission, considering developments up to the current date. In summary, the thesis "Addressing Structural Macroeconomic Imbalances in Europe: Strategies for a Fairer and More Growth-Oriented Union" firmly emphasizes the need for greater European integration to address future challenges and ensure a more stable and just union.
