Antropologia di un rifugio alpino: il caso del “Luigi Vaccarone”

This dissertation is concerned with the evolution of the mountain cabin named after the alpinist Luigi Vaccarone (2747 mt), situated in the Susa Valley, throughout the XX century and the first decades of the XXI century. The study mostly centers on the changes that affect the frequentation of the cabin, alongside with historical and structural issues. The work is divided in four chapters: the first chapter analyses alpine anthropology as a field of study; the second chapter discusses how the collective image of mountains varies throughout the modern era, and subsequently throughout the contemporary era, and how this variation results in the creation of mountain cabins and their precursors; the third chapter investigates rifugio Vaccarone’s history, and starts tackling the topic of frequentation, which faces important changes throughout the decades; the final chapter treats such topic in a more detailed manner, taking a set of different factors into account.

La tesi in oggetto si propone di indagare l’evoluzione del rifugio alpino intitolato a Luigi Vaccarone (2747 mt), situato in Valle di Susa, nel corso del XX secolo e dei primi due decenni del XXI secolo. L’elemento su cui l’indagine si sofferma maggiormente è senz’altro il mutare della frequentazione del rifugio, accanto a questioni di carattere strutturale e storico. L’elaborato si suddivide in quattro capitoli: il primo concerne l’antropologia alpina; il secondo osserva come l’immaginario comune dei monti vari nel corso dell’età moderna e poi contemporanea , e come questa variazione si traduca nell’approntamento dei rifugi alpini e dei loro precursori; il terzo capitolo percorre la storia del Rifugio Vaccarone, iniziando ad esplorare il tema della frequentazione, che nei decenni va incontro ad importanti mutamenti; l’ultimo capitolo analizza tale aspetto più nel dettaglio, chiamando in causa una moltitudine di fattori. ​
