Analysis of Edward Said's Orientalism concept in relation to Shakespeare's tragedy: Anthony and Cleopatra. In this dissertation the central concept is Orientalism. Edward Said, a literature professor, gave to the world a revolutionary essay where he explained the concept behind Orientalism. He argued the way Western scholars have portrayed in a stereotyped way Orient and the Orientals. The introduction highlight the motivation of why we always have a stigmatized opinion about populations that, in the majority of cases, we do not know nothing about. The fist chapter of my thesis, called Orientalism, deals with the explanation the real meaning of Orientalism. It was put in focus Edward Said's position about the comprehension of Orientalism in relation to colonialism. And the important role that Orientalists had in building this stigmatized image. The second chapter, called Anthony and Cleopatra, explain what was argued in the first chapter but relating it to the Shakespearian tragedy: Anthony and Cleopatra.

Analysis of Edward Said's Orientalism concept in relation to Shakespeare's tragedy: Anthony and Cleopatra. In this dissertation the central concept is Orientalism.
