Islamism is one of the most important intellectual debates in Turkey recently. Discussions are defined as the definition of where it was born, whom it contains in it, whether it will continue or not. The fact that the course of Islamism has gone through different processes till today has been effective in the failure to achieve full unity over the concept of Islamism. The intellectual identity of those who discussed the concept has also led to a wide range of discussions. The fact that the idea of Islamism is connected to the modern Turkish side as well as the last periods of the Ottoman empire plays an active role in the continuity of the debate. Besides the process undertaken by the concept of Islamism, it is also important to find cults left over from the Ottoman period in the society. It is observed that these religious structures, which were discharged as a result of the law of tekkes and zawiyas (a small Islamic monastery) during the Republic period, were transformed and resurfaced in the process of the interregnum with the transition to multi-party life from 1948 onwards. Islamism, which no longer resembles the Ottoman period and has become a political Islamic movement rather than an intellectual formation as a result of its transformation, has contributed efforts towards the modernisation of Turkey. When we were working on Islamism, we found that various studies were done by academicians on this subject. Islamism is mainly discussed in the fields of politics, science, sociology and religion. However, it has also been studied in the fields of international relations, history and public administration. Islamism, which is also discussed in journalism, philosophy, economics, communication and literature, anthropology, is less studied in these fields than others. Among the topics discussed, the two subjects were mostly the idea of Islamism during the Period of Legitimacy and the Islamic movements in Turkey and the World after the 1950s and the issues of women during this period were the most important issues. After the 1950s, the Islamic movement or political Islamism and its prominent actors were discussed.
