The book Lord of the Flies, since its publication date in 1954 had been studied, dissected, and gained enough popularity to became part of the global cultural background. Its first edition was a flop in the States, and it sold less than 3000 copies but, despite its less than favorable start, it is today worldwide recognized to be the masterpiece of writer and Nobel prize winner William Golding. The latest generations of students often had to read it as part of their high school formation. The wildly known story owes its popularity not only to the author's literal skills but also to the moral and philosophical lesson that seems to be the backbone of the work itself. Various textbook volumes tend to dismiss the deeper meaning of Lord of the flies in a couple of lines, ending up overlooking the interesting and vast discourse that can be engaged about the matter. To formulate an opinion on the moral of the story one only must take the book itself and engage in a in-depth reading that will inevitably push the reader to develop an individual idea. If we want instead to try and grasp the author intention for his narrative it results necessary to go through the author's life and background.

Abstract
If we want instead to try and grasp the author intention for his narrative it results necessary to go through the author's life and background.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
