E che, parli arabo? Breve analisi delle abilità linguistiche di un gruppo di studenti marocchini residenti a Torino

The research I have done for my thesis aims to highlight how and by what means the Arabs, in a context of migration such as Turin, are able to get close to Arabic. The reasons why i choose the Moroccan community of Turin are various.First of all my passion for Morocco, plus, I thought that it would be useful to see how Italy, and in particular the city of Turin, are able to give starting points and incentives to Arabs born in Italy, to learn their own mother tongue. Finally, as an Arabic student, the main reason that prompted me to develop this argument is the fear of the possible "disappearance" of this language among the second generation of immigrants. Furthermore, the choice fell on the Moroccan community of Turin because it is the largest one in Italy. To develop the thesis was essential the testimony of a group of young students of Moroccan origin, who were born or have attended the school in Italy, in particular in Turin. I proceeded through a series of interviews, whose questions have been divided into three spheres: familiar, relational and personal, seeking to know precisely the actual level of knowledge of Arabic, in particular the so-called standard variety (or contemporary) of the literary language. By analyzing the interviews I've done, I could see how the Arabic language is effectively maintained between these students and know the language skills of their family members. What has emerged is the partial loss and for some interviewed a total one, of the standard variety of Arabic in a migrant context, as that of Turin, unlike the dialectal variety instead seems to bemaintained and used, although not in every areas.

Il lavoro di ricerca che ho compiuto per la mia tesi è volto ad evidenziare come e con quali strumenti gli arabi, in un contesto migratorio come quello di Torino, riescano ad avvicinarsi all'arabo. I motivi per i quali la scelta è ricaduta sulla comunità marocchina torinese sono molteplici, primo tra tutti la mia passione per il Marocco, ho pensato poi che sarebbe stato utile vedere quanto l'Italia, e in particolare Torino, sia in grado di dare spunti e stimoli agli arabi nati in Italia, per imparare la propria lingua madre. Infine, da arabista, il motivo principale che mi ha spinto a sviluppare questo argomento è il timore della possibile ¿scomparsa¿ di questa lingua tra le seconde generazioni di immigrati. La scelta è ricaduta sulla comunità marocchina di Torino perchè è la più grande d'Italia. Per lo sviluppo della tesi mi sono avvalsa della testimonianza di un gruppo di giovani studenti di origine marocchina, che sono nati o hanno frequentato le scuole in Italia, in particolare a Torino. Ho proceduto attraverso una serie di interviste, le cui domande sono state suddivise in tre sfere: personale, relazionale e familiare, miranti a conoscere appunto l'effettivo livello di conoscenza dell'arabo, in particolare la cosiddetta varietà standard (o contemporanea) della lingua colta. Analizzando le interviste che ho effettuato, ho potuto constatare quanto la lingua araba venga effettivamente mantenuta fra i suddetti studenti e conoscere le abilità linguistiche dei vari componenti della famiglia degli intervistati. Ciò che ne è emerso è la perdita parziale e per alcuni intervistati totale, della varietà standard dell'arabo in un contesto migratorio come quello di Torino, a differenza della varietà dialettale che pare sia invece mantenuta e utilizzata, seppur non in tutti gli ambiti.
