Analisi dell’aspetto intermediale e traduttivo di AKECHI, adattamento manga di Iizuka Keita dei racconti L’arma del delitto e La banda della mano nera di Edogawa Ranpo

This dissertation presents an intermedial and translational analysis of AKECHI, Iizuka Keita's manga adaptation of Edogawa Ranpo's short stories "The murder weapon" and "The black hand gang". The first chapter focuses on the following points: the meaning of adaptation and intertextuality; the relationship between manga, cinema and literature; and the comparison between the original work – Ranpo’s short stories – and Iizuka Keita’s manga adaptation, with the aim of underlining the differences and the similarities concerning the plot, the characters and the setting. The second chapter presents the Italian translation of AKECHI, and the third examines the analysis of the translation process of five different topics: onomatopoeias, culture-specific items, gender language, a coded message and names. In this section the focus is on the presentation of the translation choices, the issues that one may easily encounter in the process of a manga translation and the solutions to overcome those issues.

Il lavoro presenta un’analisi dell’aspetto intermediale e traduttivo di AKECHI, adattamento manga de “L’arma del delitto” e “La banda della mano nera”, due racconti scritti dal celebre autore giapponese Edogawa Ranpo. Il primo capitolo si focalizza sull’esposizione dei seguenti punti: i concetti di trasposizione e intertestualità, il rapporto che il manga intrattiene con il mondo del cinema e della letteratura e il confronto tra le opere originale di Ranpo e l’adattamento manga di Iizuka, mettendo enfasi sulle differenze e analogie in termini di trama, personaggi e setting. Il secondo capitolo è dedicato alla traduzione dal giapponese all’italiano di AKECHI, mentre il terzo riguarda l’analisi della traduzione, in cui si analizzano le scelte traduttive divise per argomento: onomatopee, culturemi, linguaggio di genere, messaggio cifrato e nomi. In questa sezione si mettono in luce le criticità che si possono incontrare nella traduzione di un manga e le soluzioni che si possono adottare per superarle.
