Il multilinguismo europeo: una sfida per l'Europa

The European Union has recognised the value of multilinguism as one of the key paths to be taken for Europe's growth. Thanks to its linguistic diversity, Europe can rely on different linguistic and cultural skills, which are essential for the success of European integration. The promotion of multilinguism is therefore an objective for the Union, and Europe must be aware of and able to recognise its policies in favour, the legal system of languages, and the various programmes aimed at achieving the objectives. However, time and resources are needed, and a balance must be struck between the need to communicate efficiently between countries and the recognition of existing minority languages. The thesis deals with these important challenges and issues that clearly affect the whole of Europe, and the aspects that demonstrate the Union's devotion and commitment to obtaining all the necessary resources. The chapters presented clarify first of all the concept of multilinguism and its values, the policies in favour of linguistic diversity, up to the existing European projects and the case studies affecting certain European states.

L'Unione europea ha riconosciuto il valore del multilinguismo come uno dei percorsi chiave da seguire per la crescita dell'Europa. Grazie alla sua diversità linguistica, l'Europa può contare su diverse competenze linguistiche e culturali, che sono essenziali per il successo dell'integrazione europea. La promozione del multilinguismo è perciò un obiettivo per l'Unione, e l'Europa deve essere consapevole ed in grado di riconoscerne le politiche a favore, il regime giuridico delle lingue, ed i vari programmi finalizzati al raggiungimento degli obiettivi. Tuttavia, sono necessari tempo e risorse, e in più è necessario trovare un equilibrio tra la necessità di comunicare efficientemente tra paesi e il riconoscimento delle lingue minoritarie esistenti. La tesi affronterà tali sfide e questioni importanti che riguardano chiaramente l'intera Europa, e gli aspetti che dimostrano la dedizione e l'impegno da parte dell'Unione per ottenere tutte le risorse necessarie. I capitoli presentati chiariscono in primo luogo il concetto di multilinguismo e i suoi valori, le politiche a favore per la diversità linguistica, fino ad arrivare ai progetti europei esistenti ed ai casi di studio che riguardano alcuni stati europei.
