In 2008 a man under the alias of Satoshi Nakamoto published a paper illustrating a new technology – Bitcoin – that would have changed the concept of money. Nakamoto's invention was not just a cryptocurrency that will have conquered the world, he also created the blockchain: a public transaction ledger. He combined several previous technologies due to create a decentralized system. The blockchain has permitted the development of several cryptocurrencies, but also, it's a technology that can be used in various field from goods, production chains, insurances, etc. In this dissertation, the first chapter will explain how bitcoin cryptocurrency works on a decentralized system studying the structure of the main elements. In the second chapter there is a deepening of the blockchain in order to understand in the third chapter, what are its future application prospects and implementation in our daily life.
