Questa tesi si propone di studiare il meccanismo dell'oblio intenzionale e i metodi che possono contrastarlo. Partendo dalla memoria e delle sue relative strutture, verrà indagato il ruolo dei gesti e in generale delle azioni motorie sulla memorizzazione e rievocazione dei ricordi. Successivamente sarà analizzato l'oblio intenzionale in ambito sperimentale attraverso il paradigma del Directed Forgetting applicato alla memoria per eventi d'azione anche emotivamente carichi. Nella terza parte dell'elaborato verrà presentato e discusso l'esperimento che abbiamo condotto su un campione di 69 soggetti con l'obiettivo di indagare se l'effetto benefico dei gesti si verifica anche nel caso in cui i gesti che accompagnano le frasi sono osservati invece che prodotti in prima persona. Infine, l'ultima parte della tesi sarà dedicata alle false memorie come conseguenza dell'oblio in ambito della psicologia della testimonianza. Verranno analizzati i meccanismi che portano alla formazione dei falsi ricordi e quali metodi possono essere utilizzati per evitarli. ​
This thesis proposes to study the mechanism of intentional oblivion and the methods that can counteract it. Starting from the memory and its related structures, the role of gestures and in general of motor actions on the memorization and re-enactment of memories will be investigated. Subsequently the intentional forgetfulness in the experimental field will be analyzed through the paradigm of Directed Forgetting applied to the memory for action events also emotionally charged. In the third part of the paper will be presented and discussed the experiment that we conducted on a sample of 69 subjects with the aim of investigating whether the beneficial effect of gestures occurs even when the gestures that accompany the sentences are observed instead of products in first person. Finally, the last part of the thesis will be dedicated to false memories as a consequence of forgetfulness in the psychology of testimony. The mechanisms that lead to the formation of false memories and what methods can be used to avoid them will be analyzed. ​
