Search Engines Optimization (SEO) is ¿the active practice of
optimizing a web site by improving internal and external aspects in
order to increase the traffic the site receives from search engines¿
(www.studio-solution.com). The present thesis is a result of a three
month internship that I did in England, at a company called Studio-
Solution.com that specializes in providing e-business solutions like
web designing, web programming and web development for the use of a
variety of companies. These companies are aiming to increase their
online presence, and with this in return, their sales. The better
optimized a page is, the higher ranking it will gain in search
engine result listing. The main task of search engines is the
storage of an infinite number of documents that have to be analyzed
at a great speed in order to pursue a certain scale of priorities.
The user of search engines must know exactly which ¿keywords¿ to use
so as to hit the target. Other important points for SEO are to
develop good links, to update the contents and to create a site
architecture that involves technical, aesthetic and functional
criteria. In conclusion, the basic goal for SEO is to make a website
more visible to search engines. Generally internet marketers have to
come up with contents that can convince the users to interact, to
read or to effect other things which will mark the site as very
important to users' eyes.
