La tesi mira ad inquadrare il ruolo delle imprese familiari in un contesto generale per poi dedicarsi ad un focus sulla situazione delle suddette imprese in Italia. Dopo una breve panoramica iniziale, segue un tentativo di definire il concetto di impresa familiare attraverso la discussione della letteratura presente in merito. Il corpo centrale della tesi comprende invece un'analisi di alcuni dati quantitativi e qualitativi circa la migliore performance registrata negli ultimi anni dalle imprese familiari rispetto a quelle non familiari. In particolare, ci si concentrerà sul settore manifatturiero piemontese per dimostrare la supremazia in termini di rendimento delle imprese in questione. Segue un'analisi SWOT circa i motivi per cui queste imprese operano meglio delle altre (punti di forza), ma anche circa i punti deboli, le minacce e le opportunità a cui le imprese familiari potrebbero andare incontro.
This thesis aims at higlighting the role of family businesses in a general context, although it then focuses on the Italian case. After a short introduction, there is an attempt to define the concept of family business through the dissertation of the related literature. The core of the thesis includes an analysis related to some data to demonstrate that the performance registered by family businesses in the recent past was better that the one of the other businesses. In particular, the manufacturing sector in Piedmont will be analyzed. This is followed by a SWOT analysis related to the reasons why these family businesses win on the others ( strenghts) , but also to their weaknesses and to threats and opportunities that they could go through.
