La presente tesi si occupa di inquadrare il nuovo fenomeno denominato “podcast” all’interno dell’attuale mondo mediale. Il lavoro parte dalle origini del podcasting e inquadra tutta la sua evoluzione. Si incomincia dalla sua somiglianza con il medium della radio, dalla quale ha ereditato alcuni elementi costitutivi, modificandone molti altri. Vedremo come con il passare degli anni il fenomeno dei podcast si sia ampiamente diffuso grazie al suo successo. Si analizzerà successivamente quanto questo nuovo medium sia esploso durante il periodo di pandemia Covid-19, quali sono i suoi punti di forza, in quali modalità vengono ascoltati dal pubblico, come l’aspetto della serialità sia rilevante e quali generi vengono maggiormente apprezzati dagli ascoltatori. Per quanto riguarda i generi più diffusi, mi soffermerò in particolare sul true crime, analizzando le vicende narrate nel podcast “Veleno” di Pablo Trincia.
This thesis deals with framing the new phenomenon called “podcast” within the current media world. The work starts from the origins of podcasting and frames all its evolution. It begins with its resemblance to the medium of radio, from which it has inherited some constituent elements, modifying many others. We will see how over the years the phenomenon of podcasts has spread widely thanks to its success. We will then analyze how this new medium exploded during the period of Covid-19 pandemic, what are its strengths, in which ways are heard by the public, how the aspect of seriality is relevant and which genres are most appreciated by listeners. As regards the most common genres, I will focus in particular on true crime, analyzing the events narrated in the podcast "Veleno" by Pablo Trincia.
