Il presente elaborato ha come obiettivo la traduzione del romanzo di Sara Mesa La familia, pubblicato in Spagna nel settembre 2022 dalla casa editrice Anagrama.
Il primo capitolo, dallo stampo letterario e con lo scopo di contestualizzare la traduzione del romanzo, presenta una rapida panoramica sulla biografia di Sara Mesa e sulle sue opere, stile e temi ricorrenti, e una dettagliata descrizione della trama e delle caratteristiche principali del romanzo oggetto di studio: La familia.
Il secondo capitolo, costituito dalla proposta di traduzione del romanzo secondo il metodo traduttivo interpretativo-comunicativo, è da considerarsi come il fulcro del lavoro, per l’impegno, la dedizione e la complessità che richiede la trasposizione della forma e del contenuto di un’intera opera in un’altra lingua.
Nel terzo capitolo, infine, si propone un commento traduttologico in cui si riportano le principali difficoltà incontrate durante l’atto traduttivo e si giustificano le scelte risolutive. Tali difficoltà riguardano specialmente aspetti linguistici, testuali ed extralinguistici. Per concludere, si offre anche un confronto degli aspetti più critici e curiosi tra la traduzione qui presentata e quella pubblicata lo scorso 16 febbraio dalla casa editrice La Nuova Frontiera, realizzata da Elisa Tramontin.
L’elaborato è stato redatto perché si considera Sara Mesa una delle voci più influenti della letteratura spagnola contemporanea e, in particolare, si ritiene il suo sguardo sulla tematica del romanzo attualissimo e provocatorio.
The aim of this dissertation is the translation of Sara Mesa's novel La familia, published in Spain in September 2022 by the publisher Anagrama.
The first chapter, of a literary nature and with the intend of contextualising the translation of the novel, presents a quick overview of Sara Mesa's biography and her works, style and recurring themes, and as a detailed description of the plot and the main features of the novel under study: La familia.
The second chapter, consisting of the proposed translation of the novel according to the interpretive-communicative translation method, is to be considered as the core of the work, due to the commitment, dedication and complexity required to transpose the form and content of an entire work into another language.
Finally, the third chapter proposes a commentary on the translation in which the main difficulties encountered during the translation are reported and the solutions are justified. These difficulties mainly concern linguistic, textual and extralinguistic aspects. In conclusion, it is also offered a comparison of the most critical and curious aspects between the translation presented here and the one published last 16 February by the publisher La Nuova Frontiera, made by Elisa Tramontin.
The dissertation was redacted because Sara Mesa is considered one of the most influential voices in contemporary Spanish literature and, especially, her gaze about the novel is highly current and provocative.
